HEPA Air Filtration System Installation

Indoor Air Quality
Improve Indoor Air Quality With HEPA Filtration
Homeowners throughout Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania are more acutely aware than ever that indoor air quality plays an integral role in the health of their families. Sanks Mechanical is a family-owned and -operated HVAC company that has more than a decade of experience helping our customers in this region achieve and maintain healthy IAQ, and one of the most effective and efficient ways to do that is through the installation of a whole-home HEPA air filtration system.
What Is HEPA?
HEPA stands for high-efficiency particulate air, and HEPA filters were first developed in the 1940s for use during the Manhattan Project. The filters were so effective that they were soon adapted for residential and commercial use and are now found in homes, hospitals, manufacturing plants, and many other locations around the world. What HEPA filters do well is trap particulate matter, and this is possible because the filters comprise a fiberglass fiber tangle that allows air but not particles to pass through.
A HEPA air filtration system for the home can either be a standalone unit or a device integrated into the existing HVAC configuration. In either case, as air is drawn into the system, it’s forced through the HEPA media, which traps the particles and cleans the air. HEPA filters are available in various grades. Classic HEPA refers to grades H8 through H10, which filter up to 99% of particles down to 2.0 microns in size. Those filters have been supplanted by True HEPA. That refers to grades H11 through H12, which filter up to 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns. There is also medical-grade HEPA, which refers to grade H13 and filters up to 99.995% of particles down to 0.1 microns.

The Benefits of HEPA Air Filtration
The EPA now recognizes poor indoor air quality among the most serious health risks facing Americans, and particulate matter is linked to a variety of cardiovascular diseases. The air inside your home can never be cleaner than the air outside it without some form of mechanical filtration, and it can often be even more polluted due to higher concentration levels. Investing in HEPA air filtration for your home, therefore, has significant long-term health implications for your family. There are immediate health benefits as well, including reduced asthma and allergy symptoms, better sleep and being less prone to insomnia, easier breathing, less fatigue, more energy, fewer headaches, and so forth.
Signs Your Home Needs an Air Purification System
Based on EPA guidelines, we encourage all homeowners to consider HEPA air filtration, but there are signs that your home may need it even more than the typical household. If you own a dog, cat, or other pet that sheds dander or have someone in the home with asthma or allergies, then you almost certainly need some form of air purification. If you struggle with unpleasant odors or excessive dust no matter how much you clean, then your home is also a good candidate. Other signs include chronic fatigue, frequent headaches, recurrent congestion, insomnia, and other sleeping difficulties.

Sanks Offers Multiple Approaches to Cleaner Air
Achieving and maintaining ideal indoor air quality often requires a multifaceted solution. HEPA air filtration is essential to any air purification configuration, but you may also want to consider an air scrubber, dehumidifier, UVC air purifier, and humidifier.
Air Scrubbers
Air scrubbers were originally designed for the International Space Station and then adapted for home use. These devices target gases and odors and can even eliminate surface contaminants.
UVC Air Purifiers
UVC air purifiers use ultraviolet radiation and UV-C light in particular to sanitize the air. UV-C is such an effective sanitizer that it is used in most hospitals around the world to clean surfaces and the air.
Dehumidifiers
A dehumidifier removes moisture from the air and thus makes the indoor environment more comfortable. It also helps with IAQ by making the space less prone to mold and dust mites.
Humidifiers
Humidifiers add moisture to the air and are particularly useful in winter when the air is drier. Optimal humidity in a home makes it easier to breathe and improves respiratory health overall.
The Importance of IAQ
HEPA air filtration can help protect your health over the long term but also make you feel better on a day-to-day basis. While good IAQ begins with dust control, it’s the solutions we offer here at Sanks that will help you ensure that you and yours are breathing the cleanest air possible.
